Bolt-on Turbos...

Whats the benefit of a bolt on turbo on a 1988 RX-7 GXL? How much does it affect the car if installed. Does it give it significant HP? I been thinking about having installed, but I'd like to know from you guys who might have more knowledge on this issue. Thanks.
