Generally speaking the "cheap & fast" things that produce power are modifications which include the exhaust and intake.

What car do you own? NA or turbo?

your priorities are a bit off man. Cheap and fast don't go together very well. The best bang for the buck will be N2O (I don't really like though) Why no exhaust things? Porting an engine not only requirs time it requirs a rebuild and a loot of CASH so cheap is out on that too. sorry. You will need to commit a lot of money if you want a fast car.

well then if you can't spend time then why mod your car??
By modifying your car you will inherit heavier likelyhood of something breaking. My Exhaust took about 5 Hours to put on with only me a floor jack and two stands.(i took some breaks also) you could put on an exhaust in three hours if you wanted too. that is not a lot of time dude.

Just because you have money, doesn't mean that results can be had quickly.

You still didn't indicate what car you had in particular. NA or Turbo?

Are you doing the work yourself? Or are you paying a shop to do it?

Why are you reluctant to add power w/ exhaust related modifications?

you still havent told us what kind of car you have, and you will get massive gains with an ex(H)aust. exhaust is one of the most important things you can do with a rotary along with air intake to supplement it... now a couple of questions.. your profile says you are a mechanic yet your 15 and your asking us this ridiculous question before searching? then it says you own a 85 rx7 so wouldnt you also be posting in the wrong section of the forum? you need to be specific and tell us what you want to know. most information can be found searching the site, there are plenty of other noobs that ask this question DAILY just do a search. not bashing ya too hard here but get with it and research some its good for ya and you can always learn more than what a few people will reply like me cause i havent told ya jack **** cause i have no idea what your talking about.

No one EVER said that an exhaust HAD TO BE a "big exhaust". Then again, no one ever said that all exhausts would produce a "big exhaust" sound.

Again, what kind of car????? NA or Turbo? (4th time in this thread)

WTF!!!

How in the world does a 15 year old kid get 3 FC's?????

Anyways back to the mods. You are going to have to do something about your way of thought since exhaust is the biggest HP gain on any RX-7 unless your talking about a Turbo upgrade or supergharger. other bolt-ons maybe if your car is an N/a some Pine apple racing sleeves, e-fan, remove the a/c and powersteering. all mods take time and money. maybe when you get out of the tenth grade and take some time off of your mechanics job you can find some time to do this otherwise don't bother with it.

i have 4 rx7s an 85 gsl an 86 GXl 2+2 N/A, two 88 N/A
i got the FC3s after i filled out the information for this forum
i dont like the loud crapy sound of the a Giant exaust but if i were to get an exaust system how many HP would i be able to gain and how much louder would it be from the normal exaust

when i have the money i am going to supercharge one of my cars most likely the 86

PS porting a rotary is very cheap if you do it your self it just takes a crap load of time!

You don't like the sound OR LOOK of a giant exhaust system???

Anyways you don't need a "Giant" exhaust system,

i presume

1stly you need back pressure as all your cars are N/A.

2ndly why not sell some of your cars and get a t2, then get some greater Hp gains ......if that is what you are looking for.

Not too loud to you, but to 90% of others, it's damned loud. Anyway, back to the subject here. First off, use the damn search button and read, you're asking all the wrong questions to start, and you totally blew off the one important mod to the car by saying it won't net much gain. You really need to do some reading before you do any modifying. Don't like the sound get a collected header, presilencer, and rb mufflers, nice and quiet.

As soon as I get some cash I am buying a db meter to see what the volume is and you all better have some db numbers of your exhausts. if I rol up the windows if you roll the window up you can't really hear a damned thing. I have not gotten pulle dover by any cops nor have I been louder than any of the fart cannons around here sir. HONDAS are louder than me.

What i dont get is for a 16 year old mechanic, presuming this is true who owns 4 rx7's you would assume you have more knowledge of the wankel than that. If all your cars are N/A cars your going to want exhaust first, nobody said you had to get a huge 4" exhaust... Go out and buy a racing beat set up or something, thats the best power for your dollar you can find. Maybe you'll be lucky and push out another 30 additional horse like 1987rx7guy. Next time use the search instead of asking stupid questions, other people have asked them and why make yourself feel like a dumbass?

Not to be a ***** or anything, but it seems like your dad is buying the cars for you. Well...maybe I should ask...do you work?

As for the "big, loud exhaust," nobody says you have to get a big loud exhaust. I believe Racing Beat makes a pretty quite exhaust. If you want something loud, but sounds good, then I would suggest buying the N1 catback system from rx7.com or someplace else. My friend has the dual turbo N1 catback system with headers. Yes, they are loud, but sound awesome. If loud is something you don't want, you could buy the silencers for them I believe they are about $40-45. Personally I love the raunchy sound of a rotary, but that's me. I have 2 1/2" piping to a singal Turbo N1, no resinators...har har har.

Another mod you could do is install underdrive pulleys. I picked up mine from Mazdatrix, $65 + shipping to Hawaii($19, should be less for you since you can get it shipped ground), total came out to $85.68. I haven't had the chance to try them out, still waiting on a new waterpump, but I would suppose it would help a lot. A S-AFC would probably help too, but I won't know that either until my friend puts his in.

There's a whole bunch of mods out ther you could do to gain HP. It's all a matter of how the power is going to be applied. Some mods will have you sacrifice torque for HP or vice versa.

actually there is a fine line, too free of an exhaust and you loose low end torque, but gain high end HP.

But with a less free flowing design , you might gain both low end and high end power.

For example often putting on a 60mm exhaust designed for a turbo on to a N/A will really mess up the low end and overall HP. But using a 50mm or 55mm will give great gains, with a nice increase on the high end of the rev band.
