"Bollocks. An S-AFC is not unsafe. A poorly tuned S-AFC is. Come to think of it a well-tuned S-AFC is far safer than a poorly tuned Haltech."

why would you have a poorly tuned haltech? Their are plenty of baseline maps for all the major RX-7 fuel injector combo's and turbo applications. You just run a baseline to get you down to the dyno and then make the setting changes. Don't tell this kid he can run this safe with a SAFC out of the box with a couple of setting changes and he can go hit the races.

Mazda racer. Go with a standalone and dyno tuning

Well I didn't actually say that, but it's not completely untrue. When you install an S-AFC there are no changes to fuelling. You have to put those in yourself. So straight out of the box an S-AFC is no better or worse than a stock ECU. It doesn't become "unsafe" until you start messing with it.

So like I said, blame the tuner, not the hardware.

dude forget all this piggyback and crap and just get real engine management. you can run like 16psi (definitely not good for the turbo) on the stock injectors if you are able to max them out, ie. real engine management.

we were running like 16psi on stock injectors, stock turbo (again, bad for the turbo) with the haltech E6k with under a 95% duty cycle. i say just get some secondary injectors and EMS. keep in mind you can change the primary/secondary injector load split RPM with an EMS so you can just set the RPM lower, get huge secondaries and be ok with the stock primaries...

yes. then you can ditch the TID (since you'll have a map sensor) and the FCD (no boost cut) when you get the haltech

so what would I put in place of the tid, just a straight filter to the turbo? and the haltech eliminates fuel cut as well? Hmm........all-in-one, thats nice.

I think what he meant is you can get rid of the AFM since you wont need it anymore. It is a big restriction if you are going for high power. Another reason to get a standalone. You can't ditch the AFM with a piggy back.
