Blown Coolant seals...hooray

Well I'm a freaking retard, person I bought the car off had a manual toggle switch for the efan. Well I pulled into my job to drop my drug test papers back(preemployment) it took longer than expected. I forgot to turn my fan on while going on, now that it happened I'm pretty sure I blew the seals overheating idling. Nothing in the radiator or overflow yet. The dipstick did show a little clear liquid towards the time of the stick(by the Full mark) I might be mistaken, but I'll pull the plugs and do an oil change next week to see if its truly the problem.

My question is, is it better to let the car sit until rebuild or should I keep driving it until its time to rebuild? I know if I let it sit, it'll rust out. I don't have an engine hoist to pull and strip it right now, I just plan on having a shop do it.(banzai)

How long will the engine last if I drive it everyday?

If the seals are shot, further driving will probably not exacerbate the problem. If anything it will prevent water intrusion and rust. But you really need to do a seal check first. Overheating tends to cause seal failure about 1/2 the time.

Don't let he car sit, it will rust out the irons and the rotors. IF the car still runs then you can continue to drive it until the coolant seal fails completely causing the combustion chamber to flood with coolant. Just make sure that you carry around alot of coolant, if you continue to overheat the engine it will warp the housings making them unuseable.

it doesn't take much effort to pull the plugs out and put a little oil in the engine and rotate it by hand every week or so but i agree its best to keep the engine running in the meantime to keep any possible coolant out of the engine however trying to keep it from overheating still.
