do a search on it, it's been covered lots of times. Basically in the old days synthetics weren't ment to burn like non synthetic oils however now a days on the better synthetics like royal purple, redline etc... they burn just fine and actually are prefered by some people. However by searching I've found most people still stick to the ole' castrol gtx 20w50 or less than that if they are in cold wether. Regardless, if the mechanic blew up the engine then he should pay for it. How did this happen?

ok i took my s4 rx7 in to have the undercarriage fixed up and have some supports welded to it for strength. got a call from him saying your engine is stuffed the apex seal has blown!!!!! he said u shouldnt use synthetic oil also stick with the mineral oil. I ended up paying for the engine and didnt pay for them installing it, he must of felt bad so he organised me a s5 engine instead.

I can say the car was idling weird when i went to start it up it didnt have much compression and i needed to rev it to get it to normal it did that for about 3 days before i took it in.

Also when my car is hot and I have been driving it on a fairly hot day, the engine kicks over but doesnt start, I leave it for about 10 minutes and kick it over when it has cooled a lil bit and it starts straight away. whats that from does n e one know?

might have had low compression but not a blown apex seal by your description. i still think they took it out for a joyride after the finished the job and popped the motor after a hard pull while yelling like a redneck hanging half out the window.
