blown 13b not the good kind

well since i'm new here i'll introduce my self or the car at least; i picked up a 91 RX7 from my buddy for real cheap... he knows nothing about these cars but he bought one from a guy any ways and it turned out the motor was junk (thats what my friends mechanic said) so i got the car......well it over heated on my friend which is why he took it in, in the first place.....so once i got it i check the fluids dumped some oil and water in it ran it for about 30 min in my drive way with the rad cap off....it was bubblin like hell and if it sits for a couple days it puffs white smoke when you started it....so i'm sure the o-ring has a hole in it.....

any ways my ? is who makes a good stock short block??? or would i be better off rebuilding it myself

you really won't know the condition of the block until you take it apart right? if your too lazy to rebuild you could always go v8 :P
