Blower Wiring Issue
Blower Wiring Issue
Okay, so I'll try not to draw this out too much, but I'll give as much detail as I can on my issue.
Apparently the logicon on my FC went out and the previous owner wired a switch to the fan itself which caused the harness attached to the blower to melt and short out. It seems the only damage was to that one harness. I've checked all the others and they seem fine.
So, in my attempts to repair the blower functionality, I've replaced the single bad harness with one from an 88 FC (mine is 86), but it is short a few connectors for sensors. I'm assuming that is okay, since they're just sensors. I've also resoldered all the connections on my logicon, and I have another logicon that I picked up just in case.
So, I turn the key to ON, and nothing happens. No lights on the logicon, no functionality at all with either of them. There are two wires connecting to the logicon that have 12v. The fuse seems to be okay.
Another, possibly related, wiring issue is that the previous owner rewired the 12v line going from the fuse box in the engine bay directly to the ignition. The rest of the cars wiring seems to be okay. Could that be bypassing anything that would need power?
Is there anything I'm missing that I should look at? Is there any way to test the logicon to see if it works?

Read the FSM section called............BODY ELECTRICAL.
Odd what he did with the ignition. Stock cars have a single black wire already going from the engine bay fuse box to the igniton switches three plugs. It's the black wire in the two wire connector. The other wire in that connector is black/white.......if memory serves.
OR put another way.........the ignition switch has wires on it. Those wires are called the igniton switch pigtail harness. ON the end of the pigtail are three electrical plugs. One of the plugs has two wires, one wire is black and the other wire is black/white. The pure black wire comes from the engine bay fuse box.
Power from that black wire feeds most of the interior fuse box's fuses IF you turn the key to ON or better. Something like that.
Logicon stuff is in the BODY ELECTRICAL SECTION. Too tiresome to deal with. Can't be done online. Ever.
