Now cover everything up! I mean seal every bit of this car up. Cover the bay with a blanket because the air born particles will fall in it. I plugged all bolt holes with Q-tips to preserve the threads.

Here is everything sprayed. I did not spray the top of the core support because I am painting that. But the underside was coated.

Final smooth after primer. Bondo

As I said before there was spots you could see that were not perfectly smooth and I was unhappy. This is some minor work sanding down and marking what needed to be done. A few pics down I show where everything gets addressed as a whole.

After I marked all the spots I was not happy with I sanded them down and went over them with bondo. The bondo will fill any imperfections that were there mostly very small but I was still unhappy. Trust me I am ****.

Steering column

You can use any column you want. I chose to use my JDM one because it had an adjuster on it. The interior portion is bare metal and surface rusted on me. I sanded it with 80grit sand paper then blew it off with air compressor. I took rattle can acrilic primer and sprayd the column. Here is the outcome.

I have chosen to run a debadged look. Now don't go calling me a ricer. I am running no OEM FC badges, I will run a front badge only from an FE.

Poke the back of the badge clips with something and it will pop out. Pull and remove the badge now.

You see little pieces left over inside, I took a screw driver and punched the center caps out. Just grab it with your hand now and its out. There is a beveled edge on it so punching it out brakes this edge.

With it

Time to strip the rear!

Time came to remove the whole rear assembly. I chose to drop it as a whole.

Here is my Midas touch.

The gas tank was full before I could remove it I had to empty it. I emptied half of it by siphon when it dawn on me to take gator clips a battery and power up the pump ;-). Ahh now that got things moving!

Primer Final!

I finished primering the car today. Well not the car but where I am working right now, the bay and inside. The car is not done because I am wide bodying so no reason.

Well enjoy the final pics of the bay befor paint. Spraying next week. I chose next week frankly because I didnt have the $250.00 the other day to pay for the pearl at $90.00 an OZ. I also still need to spray a letdown pannel, to find the amount I want to spray. So we are looking at just over a $500.00 paint job now just in paint for the engin bay :-/. Sheez prices just keep going up and up and up!

We will start with the interior firewall. The point of primering this is just to seal evrything and prevent rust.

If you notice there are no holes or studs for grounds or the coils. I chose to make a custom bracket down low beside the frame rail. I want nothing on the aprons, struts, and a minimum as posible for a street car on the firewall.

I will undercoat the frame rails next week. I am choosing to ruber coat the rails because they do see some abuse from the harness chaffing around and dirt. The ruber coat will withstand this bettor less scratch prone and harder to pick up flaws on.

The pearl is 250 and 500 is paint and clear and gas. Diamond white pearl is not the pearl I need that is used for spraying as a binder. That is what I sprayed last time. I am spraying crystal ice pearl. The pearls are much larger and course to spray in the clear. It will stand out allot more then diamond white pearl.
