Cool Blocking off OMP MOP & removing drive gear ...

I am blocking off my MOP becaues I am going with a Haltech in my S5 TII.

I have the engine apart and figure I will take the gear drive out.

I found this post and it helps allot....

It says you need to block off the port in the front cover and the coresponding part in the front iron.

The ONLY reason I wanted to take the gear out was because I figured there would be less chance of my block off leaking.

Any thoughts?

That's what silverrotor and I did for his engine. We tapped the hole in the front iron, and installed a grub screw with lots of loctite. He removed the gear from the front cover.

If you don't block that passage, your front bearings will be starved for oil as the pressure will just bleed out into the front cover...

So wait up, if I leave the gear in and just put a blockoff plate on, will I be OK?
