blocked heater core.... possibly?

some of you may remember that the 7 i bought had a the heater core bypassed.. I want this fixed cause i want heat in the car..(canada's cold eh) anyway, so i dont know why this was done.. it could be because there was a blockage and it was over heating cause of it.. but the over heating problem still exists after it was bypassed so i figure the guy just tried it and it didnt work and just left it as is..

So today i pourd some water into the hoses directly to fill up the heater core and see if it was going to leak into the car... but i couldnt pour anything into it.. it took like a cup then just stoped.. so my question is, is there some kind of thermostat in there that needs to open before it will take water.. i tired going into both sides because i wasnt sure which was the send and which was the return.. and both wouldnt take much water..

Yes there is a thermostat/valve. Turn your car on an turn on your heat that should open it.

PS feel free to PM me.
