block off plates purpose?

block off plates purpose?

as the title states, i have done search (boy do i now LOVE advanced search) but i still couldnt find anything about why block off plates are helpful/detrimental...any one got any info as to the benefits? is it just to clean out some junk in the engine bay?

There really no benefits to go blocking things off. They are mainly used to remove things that are not going to be used anymore. For example, when people go premix, they use a block off plate on the front cover becuase they dont need the omp anymore. Or when you remove emissions equipment like the cats, the ACV becomes pretty useless(S4s) so you remove it and blockoff its mounting area.
