Exclamation Block off plate help!!

I have a 1988 Rx-7 gxl and installed the acv, egr, and sub zero block off plates and now my car won’t idle. It sounds good at start up but once I try to hold the idle it sounds like it’s misfiring. Any answers as to why that’s happening????

I'm assuming you didn't do a vacuum leak test. Step 1.

If you need more details you can do a Google/YouTube search, but you have two main options.

1. You can spray a combustible aerosol (brake cleaner, carb and choke cleaner, etc.) around the engine bay with the engine running. The idle will rise when you spray an area with a vacuum leak.
2. You can spray the engine with soapy water and pressurize with compressed air (usually via a PVC cap with a tire valve stem installed in place of the intake). You will see bubbles forming from where the leak is. Not much pressure is needed, usually a 1/2 second blip of compressed air at a time is all you need.

Guarantee you one or all of your newly installed block-off plates are leaking. Did you replace the paper gaskets and/or apply RTV to both sides before installing?
