84 12A just removed emmissions- won't Idle HELP
I really have checked and rechecked the vacuum lines- new plugs, wires Dist cap- checked for 'lightning' at night, replaced fuel filter(cleaned filters on carb)- checked 2 solonoids left on carb- both have power and seem to be working. Runs great at high rpm around 1200rpm it starts missing and dies out -even after it has warmed up- timing is set as close as I can get it without proper Idle. Driving me crazy!
Are you shure of a good seal at your block off plates?
At first, I used too thin sheet metal to block off the two valves and intake tube. When I tourqed the bolts down (not very tight at all) it bent the edges away from the surface creating a vacumme leak. I pulled em off and realized the errors of my ways, after searching forever for a vacumme leak els where. Thicker plates solved the problem, smoothing my idle out.

I have alreadyreplaced the block off plates because of the same problem second time I cut a gasket and used high temp sealer I sprayed the areas with carb cleaner to check for leaks but will check again (it was the trickiest part of the proceedure) I noticed tonight that it boggs down under load at any speed and wants to stall however- it runs great at higher speeds with choke pulled out - not sure if that means its is a gas delivery problem or could still be a Vac leak- despite my looking I have had so much trouble with vacuume leaks... but I will be working on it tomorrow- All but ruled out electrical problems - I will also check vacuume at Dizzys
thanks for your input - It already sounds better without emmissions.
