Is it for the split-ari pipe? comes off the air control valve on the manifold and goes to the cat.

Yep, you remove the air pump and put the block off plate over the opening. Ill try to get some pics, but the camera has been acting up lately.

Sounds like a blockoff plate for the ACV. Grab the Haynes or Factory Service manual and look up "secondary air injection system" and "air control valve".

Yes. Its pretty simple to do, just 3 small bolts and some tubes/nipples you block off. Check out the Haynes/FSM like aaron said. I had a sheet that came with my RB exhaust with directions on how to do it. I'll check if I still have it when I get home later today.

Haynes? Go to the "emission control systems" section. Not quite sure where it is in the factory manual since I rarely use it.

If you have the Haynes, set aside a Friday night, get some beer, and READ THE MANUAL front to back. Trust me, it will be worth it.

Just so you know, the index in the Haynes manual is damned useless. You usually will just have to start in the section you think it will be in and look.

You gain nothing. The block off plate removes the air control valve, which means you can also remove the air pump. This basically renders the emissions system inoperative.

Since this is an NA, I hope the kit comes with some means for activating the 5th and 6th ports. After you remove the ACV, airpump and split air pipe, the ports don't have an exhaust pressure source.

The main advantage is that the engine bay is less cluttered. Since you have an 86, the air pump isnt needed to operate the aux ports. What kind of exhaust system did you get, btw? Header, cat replacememnt pipe, etc. Also, what brand.

Oh, so you got the true dual then, ok. Does it have a thing coming off the presilencer to operate the aux ports?

Ok, I guess on the true dual its different. On the regular RB header/presilencer combo the pipe comes off the presilencer. And yes, I do know how to do it, but it depends on your header. Is there a nipple that a flexible tube connects to, or is there a small bracket that another small metal tube connects to?

Ok, I just found a picture of the header, so I know what we're dealin with. Basically, you are going to need to get a tube similar to a vac hose that goes from the tube on the header up to the connector on the engine. If your exhaust system is still in, find the split air pipe. Its a pipe that attatches to the main cat ( i think) and goes up into the engine bay. There is a small tube that connects to the passenger side of the engine, near the aux ports. That is where the air that operates the aux ports comes from. You want to connect the tube that comes out of the header to that same place, since the split air pipe will be remove along with the rest of the exuast system.
Edit: I might have some pictures of it at home, I'll look when I get back later this afternoon.

I already posted a picture of where you need to hook the backpressure tube on the header to in one of your other threads. The blue hose is there so you don't need to go to an auto parts store for extra vacuum line. Just stick one end of the blue hose on the header's backpressure tube, and the other end on the 5th/6th port actuator pipe.

Here you go, again. I'm not sure how much simpler I can make it.
