I searched on this and found a thread on how well tall people fit in rx-7s... I'm 6'3" and right now I fit in my 89gtu no problem with the seat all the way back but not too far leaned back... when I autocross I have to lean the seat pretty far back... but not all the way back to fit in (with out rubbing on the headliner) with my helmet on... Now I'm looking at getting a GXL to replace my GTU since it needs a lot of body work... How much head room will I lose because of the sunroof track? I'm looking for a figure in inches if any one has it... also you can tell me how well you fit in with you helmet on with a sunroof if you want.

 

Note the GXL leather seats sit higher than my convertible seats. I'm 6'1" and still have 2-3 NOTCHes on the coupe/Turbo II seat track and lean it back slightly. I'd say 3-4 inches of headroom.

Also, doesn't the sunroof give you MORE room ?

 

Only if your head is sticking out, which wouldn't be too good for autocrossing. The sunroof takes off some high, because it lowers the inside roof hight so that the track can fit inside.

 

No, the sunroof is not big enough. The outside edge of the sunroof is dead center in the middle on the seat.

And you loose about 1 inch with the sunroof over a sunroofless coupe.
