The only block heater that I got (came with car when bought) was an element that surrounded the two spark plug holes on the front rotor housing. It worked fine as my car starts right up without any problems.

I got mine from part source? Is there such thing out there if not try auto value village, or bumper to bumper they will all be cheaper than canadian tire i think. Mine was just under 50 dollars. Post what you come up with.
