Unhappy Blew up my first 7 :(

Well my previous turbo II ran almost flawlessly... but unfortunately i cannot say the same about my current baby.

I got an 87 TII w/ 91 JSpec swap (none of which was done by me). It ran flawlessly at first, with the expection of a broken diff mount. I take care of the mount, and go to start it up yesterday. I had been at school for a week, and the car just sat in my driveway. I went to start, and got nothing. My brother and I gave her a push and pop started the car.

The sounds coming from the engine and undercarriage were rather scary. It was a low growling, put-putting kind of sound. When i stepped on the gas, it revved extremely slowly. The exhaust backfired like crazy, and the entire car shook violently.

I just towed her down to JPR Imports in Blackwood, NJ, last night. Jim said he would let me know what all went wrong on Monday. Im guessing from the sound, i was only running one rotor, and "bye bye apex seal."

Wish me luck guys, im gonna go rob a bank in the meantime to be able to afford this (and a nasty street port while the engine is in pieces).

-Jeff

i had the same problem, thought i blew up my motor........ what it ended up being was i guess somewhere when i was doing some things under the hood, i must have accidently pulled the 2 trailing plug wires out of the coil pack....... she ran, but wouldnt rev past like 5k, and was a dog......... i was positive i blew my motor!

im just saying, it isnt always what it seems....so good luck!

Its a shame that forced induction rotary engines are so unreliable.

lol...your very wrong....... they are just as reliable as NA's....... our problem is we have alot more possiblilties w/ forced induction, so you see more blowing up due to them being more widely modified! but stock to stock, they are just as reliable!
