Blew It Up

Blew my motor yesterday (turbo spooled to 15 PSI followed by a pop and loss of power.....) anyways now i need to decide what im going to do about my vehicle. Either go with a used JSPEC or a fresh rebuild. What kinda cost and downtime am I looking at in both cases?? Where can I get a good series 5 jspec? Any special kind of tools I would need to rebuild my car??

So is the motor damaged or do you just need new apex seals?

If an apex blew.. most likely your housing has a nice gouche in it.. the side housings may have scratches.. and the rotor itself could have recieved a big bite.. Also your other apex seals could have been messed by that apex seal...
or perhaps when it blew,, it went directly!!! out the exhaust port.. without hitting anything... Lucky

I'd rebuild it if I were you... if ya purchase a Jspec.. you have no idea how many miles are on it.. how it was ran.. what conditions it's in... and the way rotaries are.. one wrong look at it and it will shoot another apex...

Purchase new seals springs... oil control rings.. gaskets.. and rebuild it.. have fun.. learn a lot about rotaries.. and drive a car with an engine that YOU put together with your own hands ... OHH yea

Rebuild: Anywhere from $1500-$4k
J-Spec:$1000 to $1500
Personally, I would rebuild, but you can't afford it, get a j-spec from www.fc3s.org. Dave is a REALLY cool guy.
