Bleeding Power Steering Fluid Dry

Hey again guys, another question. I'm changing power steering fluid and guy at napa told me that mixing some brands of atf with others is a bad thing to do. So i was wondering what is the best way to flush the fluid completely empty.

Encase you wish to ask why, tis because it's half full and needs more fluid and i'm unsure which fluid was originally used.

Guys at Napa will also tell you that you need new head gaskets.

Power steering fluid? Don't worry about it. Just top it off with some standard juice.

Automatic Transmission Fluid on the other hand, I would not mix with other brands or types.

On a side note, the dude probably got that idea from the caution that you should not mix different brands and grades of coolant. From the minimal understanding I got on a Volkswagen forum about it, certain types of coolant do not mix well with the others and it creates a sort of sludge in the system.

However...

The way we perform Power Steering flushes at the dealer is with a machine. It's got two nozzles on the handle. One of them sucks old fluid out, the other injects more fluid in. With the engine running, old fluid is sucked out of the reservoir and then new fluid is filled in. This is done until only new fluid remains.

oops, I filled with some mercon/dexron-III after siphoning the old. The manual says Dex II is okay, and dexIII supercedes it, so I hope all is well. But this is after I had been using Type F. So, I got Type F mixed in with Dexron III plus some power steering fluid that I put in before realizing I needed ATF, and whatever is left of the original fluid in there.
