well first off what car do you have a N/A or TII? If it is an N/A then you well need a header from racing beat, pre silencer or race pipe adn then the either a dual or single exhaust. Have the APEXi N1 and a bonez race pipe.

He has a N/A. Racing Beat Header, Racing Beat Presilencer, Apex (or cheap brand) N1 muffler. Single would be cheaper, but dual looks so bad ***. I have the aforesaid setup, with a single N1. Loud, but very nice power gains.

Ok, the RB header is $198 shipped. The presilencer is a "have to" unless you want a shop to custom weld in a hollow tube to connect the header to the catback, nothing else will fit at all. If you plan on not have emissions, then eliminate the split air pipe, and ge the TII presilencer. $166 shipped. If you need back pressure (88 and earlier car) then you will need to get the N/A presilencer, $200 shipped. The catback is between $450 and $500 for single N1, and $575 and $625 for dual N1. I have spent $850 on exhaust.

Actually, I was wondering about some exhaust stuff too. I've got an 87 n/a sport and I was looking to do a full exhaust(before I can get the funds for a TII swap). My plan is to run a complete exhaust without any emissions on it since I have access to a lift. I'm looking for something I can install, unbolt a race pipe, bolt the factory cats back in, then put it all back when it gets smogged anall that. Basically, something that's easy to bolt on and off without welding or custom or anything. Here's the setup I'm looking at, but like I said, I'm looking to see if any of you guys would know if it would work.
RB Header
Bonez 2.5" race pipe w/ presilencer
Apex'i GT or maybe an N1 dual system
Sound like it'd work?

dynomax makes a good cat for rx7's because of the type of ceramic brick they use, i just got one, and have talked to people that have had them and they said they havent had any problems w/ them........ the cat is about 14" overall, so i (not having a header yet) took it to meineke and had them weld a pipe from the manifold to the cat.......i have an 86 na, so i need the back pressure........ cat is about 50 bucks and meineke is about 40..........

But you get what you pay for. If you want a high quality cat, get a Bonez or Mazdatrix unit. Pricey, but cheaper does not mean better. Also, remember, rotaries run hotter in the exhaust than pistons do. So a cheap cat may not last too long on a rotary. Also, if you remove the air pump, that will also reduce the lfe of a cat. I just reinstall my stock exhaust come inspection time!!

Well, I just want to know what quality and price I'm looking at. I want something that will add a little more power to the system that I don't have to switch out for emmisions tests and all that. I mean, also, I do care about the environment. I mean, I recycle a lot...

I personally reccomend:Racing Beat header, custom welded catalytic converter of your choice, Dynomax muffler (3in inlet, 3in outlet) you choose single or dual, custom welded in. You would be lookin at about $200 for the header, $150 for a good cat, and $90 for the muffler(a peice). Add in $200 for labor and parts at the shop, and a grand total of:$640 for a clean, good performing exhaust.
One more thing, do you plan on keeping your auxillary ports working? If you do the ONLY way you can go is with a RB presilencer. No other options. The split air pipe has to bolt to something to get those ports to open from backpressure, and an aftermarket cat WILL NOT let you do this.

personally if I had to do my exhaust all over again, I would elminate all the cats and make a custom dual catback(2.5") with straight thru mufflers.
basically staight pipe(2.5") from the exhaust manifold to a Y-pipe to 2 (2") pipes each welded to a muffler.
