Black bits in coolant

I opened up the rad cap the other day and found a couple black rubber pieces floating in the top of the rad filler neck. Are these bits of the o-ring that go around the housing, or from other seals (coolant seals)? I did the coolant seals test, making sure that the rad was full, engine cold, pulled the EGI fuse and turned it over and no coolant came out. Also put the fuse back in, kept the rad cap off and let it run for about 10 or 15 minutes and no bubbling or overflowing into the overflow resivour. Car starts fine, no white smoke, runs good etc. The engine is a mazda reman with 30,000 on it. Compression checked out good a few months back, coolant was flushed then as well, I haven't overheated the car. But I wasn't feeling to good when I found these couple pieces in the coolant. So is it time to try the block weld temporary fix, or could it be something else? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like your radiator hose is really, really old. Might want to flush + replace that.

I'll have a look, the heater hose needed replacing awile back so I changed that. but I think its something else. One black piece is 1/2 " long the other is 1 & 1/2 inches in length both 1/32" wide and have a slight raise running down the long side. I have a pic if somone could through it up here.

Probably bits of hose. IIRC the coolant o-ring is actually orange-ish.
