big problem?

so here it is...88 13b n/a vert. bought a rebuilt motor with no miles on it, took all emissions off, capped everything off plugged everyhole, no leaks. started it up and it ran funny so i did what anyone would do and adjusted the timing, adjusted the tps and the throttle to about 1500rpms from what i read on a website to break in a new motor. so i went to drive it and what do you know it bogs down and sputters like no one elses business even in first. sooo i took it back to my shop and checked everything out again and everything seems to be fine except when it idles it just sits there and pulsates and i can't seem to figure it out. any and all help would be great...or if there is anyone in the oklahoma city area that would love to come take a look that would be great also....

When you adjusted the timing, did you install the initial set coupler?

Did you adjust the TPS after you set the idle to 1500? If not, the that's your problem.

ok so went back to the shop throttle is a little under 1500 and sitting at 1k throttle with initial set coupler installed is perfect. still havin a little issue with pulsateing idle. but now i remember i had to take the intake off a couple times the other day because of the dredded pulsation dampener problem but now solved. so later when the car is cooled down i will go back over and hopefully find that the intake is leaking and fix that in 5 mins...

oh and i had a question. i havent looked in the book yet but what is that black thing by the pressure sensor that has an electrical plug attacted to it and looks as if it has glue in it?

That would be the idle A/F ratio adjustment. Don't touch it.

yah used a new gasket after the hell of chipping off the old one and not getting any of the pieces in the housing. but that wasnt the problem it still is pulsating and starting to **** me off so after christmas im gunna go to radio shak and make my own tester to see if something else is wrong other than possibly an intake leak. and also am gunna do a smoke check to see if there could possibly be another leak that i just havent noticed.
