OK - This is a hard call for me...

Yeah, A-Spec's shop is a dump in a bad area (had a tank of gas syphoned out after the gas cover was broke), and the guys there are a bunch of wingnuts.....

*BUT*

They rebuilt my motor (and all the housings are mine) and I'm really happy with the job they did (15k km of hard driving and autocrossing on it), and have helped me out with a lot of parts that I could not get anywhere else at anywhere near what they charged me (including freebies).

I dunno - I'm neutral here. I've gone there and got good value for the money and personally know others that I referred there who are happy. I also know some who are not. I didn't know these guys before I got the RX and have no other relationship with them.

Back to the original poster:
Did *you* ask to have the FCD installed before the work was started?

Also, how was the rebuilt wreck unsafe? I wrote off a '97 Neon 9 months after I got it, and the only reason it was written off was the insurance would have had to pay for *OEM* parts on a current car and they were too cheap to. The body shop I had it towed to told me they could have done it for half the price if it was a year older and did not have to use Chrysler parts. The damage to that car was not that bad, and I even drove it to the side of the road after T-boneing a minivan that had turned in front of me.

Devil's Advocate

Anybody who considers disconnecting the pressure sensor a safe way to remove fuel cut should be treated with extreme caution, if for no other reason that they obviously have no idea how EFI systems work, let alone specific knowledge of Mazda systems.

Did I ask for a FCD ? YES I DID.. They said " don't worry about it ,we know how to get around fuel cut" . I will get details on the wreck damage. I know it involved frame.

My girlfriend bought a so called fresh out of the mold spoiler from a-spec and hondah8er picked it up and my friend picked it up for her from his house and not knowing that she was getting this for me hondah8er tact on his cut. $100. NOT IMPRESSED TO HEAR THIS. The fin was so out of shape no body men I know would touch it. So a-spec butcherd it on.

Sorry my friend, there was nothing wrong with that spoiler and IT WAS a fresh mold. And you payed less then you would get it for from anyone/anywhere else.

I was worried all you guys would crap on me for starting this thread. But all you guys helped me through most of my projects (except for stuff I can't do , exhaust) and wether you like it or not you guys deserve to hear it. And if memory serves me correct hondah8er has a diconnected boost sensor too, hehe , Maybe thats why he blew it.
Actually I ran out of oil which was my fault NOOB. I beat on my car everyday at 14 psiwith stock fuel except for pump for 7 months until I neglected to check the oil which was MY FAULT. Thats why when I pulled my motor apart the apex seals were still in tact right? You twit. Why dont you stick to things you know...not RX-7s.

And how do you know ANYTHING about my car? you have never seen it and I have seen you once with your gf at A-spec. ******

Thanks I will stick to things I know other wise crooked shops screw you. Your car runs so good because you probably have everybody elses good parts in it. Anyway not here to argue with you. To me your just a bystander to that shop. I'm just here to say what goes around comes around. Even though a-spec does SOME good work, the scratches on my car, the poor spoiler , the disconnected boost sensor, week at a time with no car, and that damn ticket really pissed me off. and all that and they only had my car TWICE. Is that a good shop to you hondah8er? Do feel good for sending me there?

At this point I'd kind of like to hear their defence on this subject. I know one of the guys that works there comes on a lot of these boards.... I want to know what they have to say about all this. Would be kinda hard to have much of an argument at this point though.

So what do you know? I am curious to know. To me it doesnt sound like much. Instead of bitching on here why dont you call Steve and tell him to pay for the scratches to get fixed on your car? They have a bodyman downstairs.

Your car runs so good because you probably have everybody elses good parts in it.

You seem like you like run your mouth there buddy Please dont infere about what I may or may not have in my car.

Is that a good shop to you hondah8er? Do feel good for sending me there?

Right now, I couldnt care less about how I feel about sending you there noob.

You're right, he should have made them pay for the scratch repairs, but there's no way in hell he should let anyone they recomend do the work. A good shop won't ever, and I do mean ever, leave even a greasy hand print anywhere, let alone a scratch. A good shop wont ever, and I do mean ever, unplug the bost sensor. A good shop wont ever, and I do mean ... pick from the friggin' list. If they do great work for you, then great. In the unlikely event that I drive to Toronto, and the more unlikely event that my 7 breaks down there, A-spec will not catch even a wiff of it. One bad story is enough. Two worse. Three, they might as well close up shop and find something they are qualified to do, like cleaning toilets.

BTW, we may not have heard a defence from them, because they have none, or don't care, or well that about covers the only two tenets of good business left to them.

Probably because they are busy and dont go on the internet more like it. I'll go by the shop and let them know whats going on and being said.

Their body shop downstairs provided the brilliant work on my spoiler. I wouldn't let them touch my car again. I would ask them to pay for the crap but they don't seem to give a **** about detail. Not worth the arguing. As far as I'm concerned I got it off my chest. I don't really care to hear about these guys anymore. I shouldn't have said anything about your car hondah8er. But I think you shouldn't be sticking up for those guys. Maybe you should just tell of your good experiences with them and I'll tell my bad. And let everyone decide for themselves.

No hard feelings. I got fucked and this is how I chose to deal with it !

Oh I have one good thing to say about a-spec in all fairness at least I could make it home in my car after they worked on it. I didn't make it home when I took it to a Mazda dealership.............

Anybody who leaves their cars at a-spec should take note of the KM's because they ALWAYS drive customer's cars home... I've even received an ETR bill before from a time when the car was in the shop so it wouldn't surprise me if they loan cars out to other customers too!
