Question Better than ATF treatment?

I saw this post on the Team FC3s Forum:
http://www.teamfc3s.org/webboard/For...TML/000156.php

Has anyone tried this product on their rotaries? Anyone know anything about this product? If it does work like this guy says, it would be better because you dont have to leave your car sitting for 24 hours and get almost the same results as with the ATF fluid. Thanks.

never heard of it, but...

NAPA does carry another product called Super Kool, goes in your radiator. I rebuilt a ford 400 and i had a 351M size radiator, kept running hot, put that stuff in and the temp guage only moved off the bottom when i sat idling for a long time. even crawling around 4X4ing didn;t heat it up. Thought i might try it on the rx. it does say for diesel engines, but it worked in my gasoline ford.

I was going to reply to that topic but I can't remember my damn password and no one will give it to me. but heres my story.
I bought some of that sea foam stuff at a local automotive store. its not a NAPA "exclusive" you can get it at alot of places. I used it in the manner described, I poured it down my carbeurator with the engine running, and a big thick cloud of smoke came out the tailpipe. Approx. two weeks later my engine blew up. Do I blame it on the Sea foam? No. But it may well have contributed to the engines demise.

Dave said try not to use any engine addictives or coolant addictives. Remember your coolant o-ring is only so far from the combustration chamber. You dont want anything to get chewed up

Seafoam did not kill your engine for sure because ive seen it used in 2 rotaries and numerous piston engines it doesnt hurt it. What you should do is do the seafoam and then atf therefore you are totally getting rid of the carbon. - Gabe

I was also wondering what "addictives" were. You mean like alcohol and nicotine?

thanks for your replies but I'm still a little "iffy" on doing this to my car. Has anyone else used this or know someone who used this on their rotarie engine and got good results?

I would stick with the ATF, we know it works and it works well, even if it is a bit more of a pain in the ***.

How many miles on your engine? Sea foam supposedly dissolves the carbon deposits, as the ATF does, but with the motor running, which may have been your problem...If your motor has significant buildup, it can take it off in chunks without letting it dissolve completely. Carbon chunks then get stuck between the rotor and the housing, destroying the seal...motor go bye-bye...Did this on a '68 GTO with a Chevy small block 400, when we disassembled the motor (wierd noises before it quit immediately after) there were chunks stuck between the valve and the seats, causing piston to valve interference...Wish I had known then that ATF and hand-cycling the motor would do it...My friend would still have a motor.

My suggestion? ATF...

That is along the lines what I was thinking; running engine at the time might have been the problem. Thats why I don't use the stuff anymore, I just stick with old ATF because its cheap. And since MMO is just ATF with some other stuff in it I don't bother with that either. The engine had 176k I think; but I never ATF'd it and I suspect the original owner didn't either. Now its on its 3rd motor and purring so I'm happy again I've put it on a strict ATF diet since.
