Better place to ground the battery to engine?

I was rewiring my 88 Turbo and I rounded the 14mm bolt at the back of the engine block. Is there another good location to run the ground to on the engine?

I made marine grade cables already using 4 gauge (42") and one 21" for the ground to the body. I hoped I could leave the OEM cables in place and tape really good to prevent a short.

I did this years ago on my 90 Rx7 and it has gotten rid of many many problems, primarily starting. Before I'd have flooding symptoms but rewire cured it.

You have two grounds points from the (-) battery cable. The cable goes to the back of the block and is grounded, and is grounded on the inside engine bay near the strut tower. If you follow your cable (-) you can see where it is bolted to the engine bay (down below the strut tower). Hard to explain.

I don't know why any clean, firm connection to the keg wouldn't work just as well as the stock location.

If your battery had no ground you wouldn't "think" so, you'd know.
Mainly because the car would be stone cold dead.

Agree with the above, but any advice where? I really dont see any right off hand. I guess if I remove the intercooler again it should free up space to look.

power steering bracket stud maybe? you'd need the right size ring terminal though, and those are pretty big

Good Idea actually, there is an extra Stud down there.
You would most likely need to make a bigger hole on a cable Connector.Use welding cable, and solder a copper connector to it.Enlarge the hole to fit the stud and add a nut to the stud.Done!.

use one of the engine block mounting studs on that side. Big hunk of metal right there and easy to get to.

I saw the starter bolt but thought it may not be good because you'd have both wires in basically same area. Not sure why that would be bad but I thought that. Since you are a guru I suppose thats a good place. Thanks
