Best Turbo

As far as specs and money goes whats the best single turbo upgrade you can put on a FC(a 1988 T2). I realy dont want any thing too big but something that will supply around 400hp. Thanks for any suggestions.

depends on your engine mods. you cant just upgrade the turbo. you need to beef up the fuel system and exhaust and intake etc. but your best bet would either be to upgrade your current turbo to a hybrid or to get like a TO4B

Thanks Bebesito21,
I know of the work involved in a turbo, I was just looking for some input on a good turbo that would suit my needs. BTW the engine is street ported and I should have posted that im building my FC to handle mountain runs(drifting will be involved) so im looking for a turbo that will supply quick spool ups as well as some good power for the straight-aways in between the corners.

Good luck me and my friend used to do mountain runs on Mulholland Highway until he put his car in a 12 foot ditch, never drifted though, grip driving at the time we were too inexperienced, Im still practicing drifting techniques, www.driftsession.com is a good site for learning

Yeah.....a hybrid would work nicely. Or a TO4E with a smaller ar like a .68-.90. Since you are street ported, most medium sized turbos shouldnt take too long to spool. That turbo should be good for 350 to 400 hp. Some of the mitsubishi turbos might work well...like a 16g or 18g. Turbonetics would be a good place to contact. They are a little pricey, but have great turbos and customer service and can build any turbo you need. Just tell them the hp goal and the engine you are running and what you want to do with it and they'll send you a custom turbo.

Check out the single turbo forum.

Most people are going to say that anything smaller than a .96 div on a street port may be too small...

I'm shopping around myself (with stock ports)...

man i think and have seen alot of people with 60-1 or 62-1 and i love em... i think that im gonna run a 62-1 for a while on stock ports and then when i port and rebuild ill use that turbo for autox/road racing, and a t66dbb for drag.
