Beefy GTU tranny, claims site

Beefy GTU tranny, claims site

I always wonder where ppl got their ideas about the GTU tranny being beefy. I have heard from many sources say yes and no to this.
So please read this and tell me what u think.

Im not trying to start **** but i was just wondering if this is a good webiste, with accurate info

The GTU tranny was the same as any other NA tranny (except the 'verts, which had a different 5th gear), so in that respect the site is inaccurate.

Also some of the GTU models didn't come with the Alum hood. His page made it seem like they all came with them.

That page is also missing any info on the 89-90 GXL, the 91 Coupe, as well as minor things like that the aero mirror first appeared in the series 4 T2 and GTU not the series 5 as he mentions (although the 88 version was different from the 89-91 version of the aero mirror). Basic stuff like that.

My GTU's tranny is slowly losing it's synchros. I now have to pause unnaturally long between 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Hopefully I'll get into it this summer when I get my clutch & flywheel.
I think it's funny that some ppl think the base model (well 89-92 anyway...) would have a stronger powertrain component.
