Exclamation beat by a turbo2 but informed a new b

bro this t2 ran up on me just now and i took off and blew him till about my peak 2nd gear then he caught up and i switched to 3rd and he passed me , boost is soo tight.
well ends up i think he blew some sort of seal while passing me . while redlining a 3rd gear shift he shot black smoke out at me and popped. im used to the poping sound but this was a weird sound. im thinkin maybe turbo oil seal or maybe another type seal in the engine...
i told him what it might be and gave him numbers on where to get a rebuild and how we can make the last days of his seven the best! lol
but while driving his car shut off and didnt want to start . im not familiar with turbo 2's but is that detanation? i saw flames then "no more run"
but luckily i was there to tell him that there was such a thing as poping a clutch lol clutch poping 101 was jus taught by me ... n e ways it started but didnt want to stay on w/o the constant holding or revving of gas. well what could this be....? overheat? low compression blown seal ? turbo oil seal ? help will be appreciated b/c i want to see this seven live to see another day .

"POP" goes the motor....

Copuld be somtehign else (vacuum line popped off...), but detonation seems to be most likely.

Any mods?

im betting it was a vaccuum line from the flames of the engine going rich if it wont hold an idle but will run. we drove my buddy 7 to a meet when it was only pulling 4 inches of mercury at 900 rpm cause of a horific leak. the sound of the leak was louder than the exhaust

i drove my brothers rx-7... btw this is the first time ive driven it... but i pull out of his gf's driveway and just floor it :B gets all squirrly and stuff then shift and and just go on.. but later it died on me when i was coming to a stop. and it wouldnt idle on its own. I thought i blew his motor up... turns out the pipe with the air filter and maf came off the turbo and thats why it died. boy was i lucky.

IT WAS DARK AT NIGHT BUT I TOLD HIM IT WAS PROLLY A VACUUM line but even with a flashlight i couldnt see a thing around his cluttered engine. i think i saw that it had either 154 or 184 k on the original engine. he also said he saw smoke come from the engine compartment once while racing , and that he shifts at 7k usually... on stock engine w/no mods. i told him about the atf trick but only to do it if he knew it was dying. he didnt know a damn thing about his car. it was cool that i knew more than him b/c i dont know much ,but maybe i know more than i think

I've blown the IC hose off a few times. If he has mods and is running higher boost, then you've gotta make sure that's clamped down pretty good. even running insanely high boost (call it 15psi) on an Rx7 is still not nearly as high as some other cars run, so the clamps and hoses aren't meant to handle that, especially if they're ~15 years old. Sounds like that's most likely the problem, but detonation can't really be ruled out either. Did you give him the addy for our forum? If so, we'll probably see someone from Florida posting about they're "dead engine" pretty soon.

the car is beautiful i wish i had it . it was babied since bought in 87. i sat in the seat and it was like i sunk into it . unlike my seat which is no where near what that felt like. i dont think he has n e mods.after market boost gauge was all i saw and some wiring to some sort of an electrical box with wording on it i forget the words b/c it was dark last night. but no im not sure he has a computer to get on the forum but i told him to come over and we could work on his car . but i think itll die pretty soon!

What color was it? I've only seen a few TIIs in hillsborough county. A few red ones and a couple AEs.

I don't live in city limits. I live south, if you know high schools East Bay, Riveriview, Bloomingdale. Down there. About 5-10 mins from city limits and like 25 mins from the stadium.

Actually like 5 mins south of it. But yea, in that area. I'm kind of between brandon and tampa but south of both.
