A while back I decided to do the bare block mod. The day after that, I had to push my car to start it. Now, I know that the car is supposed to be harder to start, but do I have to use starting fluid? I've had to use starting fluid ever since then if my car sits too long. The weird thing is, is that it will start up without a problem if it sits less than 6 hours, anything after that needs the fluid.

Anyone have any idea what this is? Thanks.

 

What the hell is a bare block mod? Are you referring to 1987Rx7Guys crap description of running emissionless? Bare block means exactly that, the bare block, so it would have to be out of the car to be a bare block. That isnt a mod.

 

lol bare block or is it the emissions thing? But I dont see why removing emissions equipment would cause those problems...?

 

what ever mod u have it's not done right. You shouldn't have to push start your car.

I've taken everything possible off (while still on stock ecu) and it starts like normal and idles like normal.

Well, I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I used silicon gasket maker **** instead of buying gaskets. At the time I was broke, I guess I should have waited. I bought the gaskets already, I got a new engine wiring harness (mine is fucked already, needs to be changed), and I hope that will fix it. I already figured this was my problem, but I wanted to make sure with you guys.

 

yeah. gasket maker doesnt cut it on the intake manifolds. you need th real deal. read dcfc3s's write up about emisions removal and vacum routin. should clear things up.

 

Bare block = no manifolds, so no wonder it won't run!

The engine should not not harder to start after removing the emission controls and vac rack. If it is you've done something wrong. How does it run once it's started?

 

That particular statement sounds like it could be flooding due to a leaking injector. Is this problem consistant? If you let it sit overnight it won't start on its own?

 

It will not start if I let it sit overnight. Also, I said something about changing the wiring harness because, about a month ago, my car started to act like it was only running on one rotor. I have a really low idle, and it takes me about a minute to get to 60 mph. It's weird, because I was acting like I knew what was wrong, and I was playing with the wiring harness, and it would start running fine again. I cant tweak the harness to make it run right anymore, but I always thought it might have been an injector wire just so old that it wasnt sending a signal anymore. But it sure would be better news to hear it was an injector. Any way to test those with a multitester?
