BAH, so confused about fuel pump rewire.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...resistor+relay

Alright so...i have a 87 T2 engine AND harness on an 88 convertible chassis. Im so confused about what wires i should run where...so far i have 3 seperate wires running from the battery area to the back and from the air box area to the back. their roughly in the same spot in the back. now. i was told that i dont even need to relocated the fuel pump relay or something? i dont even know where that is on this chassis of the vert. becuase on the one link it has pictures of the fuel pump relay, and i didnt transfer that over to my vert chassis when i did the engine swap...so where is it? or do i not have to worry about it at all???

damnit. i just need someone to give the dumbed down diagram for me cuz im retarded when it comes to curcuits. im confident that i can do it with the right instruction just like always... i simply have a hard time piecing this stuff together by myself for the first time.

Your car did not come with the Fuel Pump Resistor Relay assy, so this *mod* does not apply to you. Parts ain't thar. Non turbo series four had none. The first jpg attached is of a TURBO. I'll try to find a non turbo to compare the two.

EDIT: Second jpg shows the series four non turbo. No Fuel Pump and Resistor Relay. Only the Circuit Opening Relay.

alright hailers, electrical guru, how do i adapt this mod to the s4 chassis harness then. someone mentioned just not even doing anything with the relay.

so im asuming this is what i am suppost to follow? this is still unclear to me if it is.

okay, i think i get it now. so this is still a switch source??

Shouldnt he just run a new wire from the stock relay to the pump?

there is not fuel pump relay . so the wires you speak of are from the fused battery correct?

okay well, i realize that this is pointless considering that i already have it started and working. but the center plug is still not connected to anything. should this plug be connected to anything.

Try this revised jpg made by NZCONVERTIBLE:

The 85 and 86 represent a coil inside the relay that needs to have power and a ground on them. The 85 gets the power wire and 86 gets the ground wire.

You run a new wire from the engine bay fuse box with a inline fuse, to the rear of the car. Jack well area is fine. You put it on the 30 terminal of the new relay.

Then the output from the new relay will leave the relay on the 87 terminal of the relay and go to the Blue wire on the harness that is headed for the fuel pump.

What he has done, is find the elect plug for the fuel pump on the back of the left strut tower. He cut two wires on the harness that were on the harness side of that plug. The other half of that plug I call the pigtail side. The pigtail side is a part of the fuel pump itself.

So he cut the BLUE and the BLACK wires on that harness a few inches from the plug (so you have enough wire left, where you can, at a later date ,splice them back together).

The piece of the Blue wire that heads for the pigtail plug, gets wires wired to 87. The piece that comes from up front, gets wired to 85.

The black wire is treated this way. The piece of the black wire that comes from up front goes to 86. The other piece of that black wire you cut, gets a ring terminal put on its end and gets bolted to a ground point.

Something like that. You might have to lengthen the blue and black wires to reach the new relay where ever you put it.
