Baffled, TII Throw out bearing problems - Pictures

Ok seriousily, this is confusing the hell out of me. S5 TII engine, ACT Extreme clutch/pressure plate, TII trans.

Throw out bearing I recieved with the ACT clutch kit = too large of inner diameter. So I borrowed one locally from a friend and am having the same problem, TOB inner diameter is too large for the input shaft. What the hell is going on here?

Here is the stock TOB notice that it sits tightly on the input shaft of the trans.

Now here is the nardi heavy duty TOB bearing.

Here is all 3 bearings, note 2 are from COMPLETELY different clutch kits and have the same problem, what on earth is going on here???

Thanks for the help.

Are you putting that Release bearing on backwards?

I'm aware, the pictures are to show the input shaft diameter to throw out bearing spacing.

Anyone have an idea whats going on here?

also, the bearing is not suppose to fit snug. Its a slide fit.

Yes but it has to sit against the input shaft to work properly. There is a HUGE amount of clearance between the TOB and input shaft.

Big time, to give you an idea, you could probally stick something the thickness of a coin (on each side) between the throw out bearing and the input shaft.

IMHO, i think you were just unlucky and both times got the wrong release bearing. It could help of you take a caliper and measure the shaft so i could compare it with my tranny.

I have measured the original Mazda part FE62-16-510C for my 1988 TII and here are the results...

Inner diameter 36,2mm
Outer diameter 64,7mm

In the picture you have mounted the clutch release bearing on the flipside...

Hope this helps...

Ok, I'm thinking someone has replaced the bearing holder on this transmission.

The bearing I pulled off has an ID of 32.39mm. The new bearing has an ID of 35.54mm.

By any chance do the J-spec transmissions come with a different throw out bearing holder or something?
