Bad TPS?

Sometimes when I am driving my car at about 2500-3200 rpms it will kind of buck and hesitate and then it just won't go even if I floor the pedal. Once I let off though and get back on the pedal, or shift gears, it will seem fine and run like normal. And this happens usually when I have the pedal pressed down just a little bit and try to accelearate at a normal pace. At WOT it appears that everything is good. Is this a bad TPS problem?

Probably, you should test the TPS using onay one of the methods that are listed here 100 times...
search for the procedure.

Well I have adjusted the TPS twice now, and so I decided I'll just take the couple extra minutes and check it out right now. I could Not get only one light to light up at a time and to top that off after I would move the screw it would go click-click-click-click-click and the lights were flickering on and off. Guess I need a new tps... but meanwhile are there any other things I should test for that could also be causing the problem?

Are you doing the tps setting with a fully HOT engine? With the engine off and the key to on?? Turning the tps screw almost all the way counter clockwise til it just about runs out of threads......then turning the screw clockwise until first one light lights up.....then just a little further clockwise until both lights light up.......and then ANTICLOCKWISE until only one light is lit????? Engine off and the key to on when doing the setting of the tps. MUST have a fully HOT engine.

If it does not work as described above, go to the site I listed in my first response and follow the instructions.

Yes the engine was hot, engine off and key to on just. Yes I turned it in and out all the way, at least two times incredibly slowly and watched very carefully and at no time was there only one light on. And like I said when it just sat there without being touched the lights were going on and off and some vacuum swtich was clicking. When I had done it the first two times which was a couple of months ago I was able to get only one light and there was no flickering unless I touched the throttle. I guess I need to track down an extra TPS from someone around here. Thanks for putting up with my TPS question as there are already about 200 of them.

Just a note: The clicking that you hear as one or the other light goes on and off, is either the Switching solenoid (grey) or the Relief solenoid (blue). What makes the lights go on and off, is a ground being put on those two solenoids from the ECU to the solenoids. If you look at the emissions schematic you'll see that the tps check connector is spliced into the ground wire for those two solenoids. When the ECU sees approx one volt, it puts a ground on the Blue (relief) solenoid and takes it off the Grey (switching) solenoid.

I agree, for what its worth, the tps is toast. Probably. Didn't mean to question your technique. Just double checking in case you forgot something or got stuck in a rut of sorts.
