is this a bad thing?
reading around the forums ive gotten the impression that having 30-60 psi oil pressure is normal. however, the oil pressure in my 87 gxl is about 60 at idle and climbs to around 100 psi while driving. is this a good or bad thing? will something explode killing oil flow completely or am i fine? the car is in really good condition with only 72k miles on it.

If you are getting your readings from the stock oil pressure gauge it's probably because the gauge is defective or the sender is. Try and check it with an aftermarket gauge to confirm.

an easy fix is to just ignore it.
but seriously, thats what mine is.. 50-60 at idle, 90-100 stomping on it.
if you look closely, the oil pressure is about 60, then drops to 50-55 because of the thermal pellet has let oil flow to spray the rotors with oil, reducing pressure.

i would check it with a mechanical guage to be sure.
the only way it could be higher than normal is if the wire was rubbing on the chassis somewhere, generally a faulty sensor or bad connection would give you lower than actual readings. your guage could also be bad, but 100 psi is not necessarily a bad thing but it will put more stress on your oil cooler lines and seals.
