bad resistance readings but somethings not right

OK heres the story. 1987 t2 with you r all around problems that they face. The bad 3800 the smell of fuel, the inproper spark, the shitty shifting but besides all that...!! I ran some of the resistance checks on the coils and the crank positioning sensor to find that the readings were off. But there so incrediably off that it doesnt make sense. The crank angle sensor as described in the hayes manual should be reading resitance of 130-230 or something like that, my readings or like 1.5ohms, on both n1 and g1 connections and stuff. YEs I tested the right ones, yes I used 3 different ohm meters and had someone else who is very confortable and well knowledged with the meters and they alll got the same exact results. Butt if the readings are that far off the book says to replace it. WEll first off I cant afford that who can! Second, the car runs pretty darn fast and still seems like the problem would be more severe if those were trye. The coils resistence levels read like the same like under 1 ohmwhich is off specs. I dont know, ive hecked alot. I dont have the cash to dump, but hoping theres other tests. Another question. TO do a timing check you use the yellow makr on the pulley with that pin sticking out, well I have no yellow mark so how do I do a timing check? Im confused! HELP ME!

whoo..lets see. you should have 2 hash marks on your pulley for timing. Either the pulley is dirty. or the paint has rubbed off. As you face the front of the car. the right hand hash mark should be the yellow or "leading" mark.

First thing I would do is download the FSM at WWW.fcs3.org. Then make sure the resistance readings for the CAS in the Haynes and the FSM match. IF they match, and your CAS is out of specs, it might be a good idea to change it. There isnt ANY way to tell what a marginally functioning CAS will do, since its only a reference signal.

www.fc3s.org

My BOV is a TurboXS Type S, I used the sonikrat method of installation. you basically put the metal sleeve on it, and attach it to where the stock BOV used to be. I can get you pics if you need them.
