Bad Injectors or Bad Seals?

My 2nd Gen Turbo has recently been rebuilt with a small port job. Runs really smooth and gets a nice extra kick about 120 mph.

One annouance is the flooding. I know this is common for S-4s and I have a fuel cut-off switch already. I'd like to fix this problem tho, cause it happens during most "short trips".

How do I know if the injectors are the probelm or if there is an insufficient seal? I read a bit on Rotary Resurrection and have browsed the archives here.

ANY HELP? Thanks in advance

Nick

pretty old, the car is an 87, pretty sure the injectors are also.

What is the benfit of rebuilding rather than just getting new injectors?

Will new injectors last longer than rebuilds?

I'm not ready to upgrade my turbo yet, so I'd stay at 550cc.

Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the link to CrusinPerformance. I may send mine out soon.

I noticed that my car lags for a split second around 3500 RPMs. Thats about when the secondaries kick in, right?

I'm guessing that there is too much fuel, and once the secondaries kick in, it bogs down my intake.

To clarify, injectors do not get "rebuilt". When the injector is manufactured, it's body is sealed and there is no way to disassemble it without destroying it. "Rebuilding" means a thorough cleaning, flow testing and replacing the rubber.

Most communities of any size have an injection shop that can do this locally. The cost will be about the same as shipping them, but without the wait. Check the yellow pages for "injection" or "diesel injection". Most diesel shops also have gas injector cleaning rigs.

Your flooding could be due to dirty injectors as this is common. If the rebuild is very new (less then a few thousand miles) then compression has not built up yet and it may be hard to start. If the rebuild is past this breakin period, the it may have low compression due to poor workmanship in the build.

thanks for the info on the "rebuild" issue. after reading CruzinPerformance.com, I can see that all they do is CLEAN.

The engine is past the "break in" stage (about 5500), and I'm sure its a pretty tight rebuild.

The car shows all the classic signs of a S4 injector problem.
