bad idea to disconnect AC hoses?
hi, im pullin my engine now, and the only thing that is still connected is the AC stuff, i have a hayes manual, but it says do not remove hoses, bring it to dealer. so do i really need to do this? theres some bolts that i cant remove, because the ac compressor is in the way. and i can only remove it by takin off the 2 top metal hoses, so i think. any help would help. thanks

just bend it out of the way. If you detach any of the hoses all of the freon will fly out and put a hole in the ozone. I've done I few swaps with my friend, and we just wired it up out of the way.
You'll need to spend hundreds of dollars for a recharge if you detach the lines.

yeah. you should be able to unbolt the actual compressor unit from the bracket without disconnecting the lines and then pull it out of the way. or, if you want to remove the A/C all together, take it to a shop that can do it the right way. its already too damn hot here to be making the holes in the ozone bigger.

I just pulled my motor and put it back in a couple weeks ago. I was able to strap the AC compressor and power steering pump to the side of the car and keep it out of the way without disconnecting any of their hard lines, just electrical connectors.

If you have the emissions control rack still installed on top the block (directly under the throttle body) you will need to pull the upper intake with the throttle body still attached. There are some plugs and hoses under there.
