Bad compression = bad mpg ?

Hi, Ive got a 87 TII and my compression is low, 56 front chamber 78 rear chamber. I filled up with 94 octane (as always) and im below quarter tank now and ive only got 204.3 kilometers on the tank so far ! im guessing i will only get like 270-300 on this one. i havent really been punching it everywhere, once and a while i take it for 5500, if anyone has had this happen to them, share some light please .

THANKS
