bad clutch problem

Hey Guys, Here's what happened... I was driving back from breakfast this morning, and right before I got to my house (up the driveway) the clutch stopped working. So I stalled at the bottom of my driveway, and am now stuck there. The clutch petal feels very loose up to a certain point, then it feels like it's doing something, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think is going on? Do I just need to adjust the petal a la the FSM? (which right now I can't do cause the damn nuts are on way too tight and I don't have my wrenches up here with me and can't get them off with pliers) or is there something wrong internally? The clutch is relatively new, according to the previous owner. Please help me a.s.a.p.!

update: the clutch now sticks all the way. My clutch fluid is low, but when the clutch is depressed, I can see little bubbles in the resevour tank... anybody know what's goin on? also, I can put it into gear just fine with the engine off, it will grind when i try to put it in reverse when the engine is on, and if i start it while it's in first, the car will lunge forward.... is my master cylinder shot? slave cylinder? air in my hydrolic system? (I didn't see any leaks anywhere) HELP!!!!

My guess would be the slave is stuck. Check the little rod that goes from the slave to the clutch arm. If it is fully extended, then something is stuck and needs to be freed or the hose is failing internally. If it is not extended, then I'd say it's in the clutch master.

FIrst.. Calm down... Have some dip.....

Second.. Bleed your clutch system... You might have air in there..... If you can't bleed it and can't find any leaks.. rip out the tranny... It aint that hard.

Your simptoms could be caused by air in the lines or a stuck cylinder, but sounds to me like the clutch springs broke or something else inside the bell housing let go.

If you end up replacing the clutch.. I highly reccomend the ACT street/strip system from rx-7store.net.

::another update::

had some dip, calmed down

second, put in some new fluid, fixed problem. I can see a VERY small leak on the line leading to the slave... it is coming out of the boot though, so I think I'm going to put a new slave in anyway some time soon. Till then, I'm gonna keep some extra dot 3 fluid in my car :-D also... now it seems to be making kinda a weird sound when i'm in neutral. If you've ever seen the movie gremlins, it sounds like the little gremlin guy when he's singing... kind of a high pitched sound... it goes away when i press the clutch all the way in. Also, I seem to be idling kinda high (1500rpm) although when I got the car back from the shop, it was idleing at 1000 rpm. anybody know what's goin on now?
