Question Is this bad?

I was racing this dude last night at a stop light and i was beating him really badly until i accidently skiped 2 gears and went into 5th and my engine just kinda bogged down, then i lost it really sucked. It was this firebird thing it was really sad i actually was almost ahead of him even when i went into 5th. Well anyways 2 minutes later while driving around my car started making this bad like coolant smell or maybe like elctrical or some **** and i was trying to figure out what the hell it was. I checked the car after and there was no coolant leaks, or oil leaks that i could see anywhere. The smell was like that of antifreeze burning or similair. Any ideas???Thanks.

My car has been having that same exact kind of smell lately Assassin. It smells like an electrical fire. But I don't see anything burning and my key isn't hot so there aren't any shorts in the system. It smells most on the driver side of the engine bay nearer to the firewall. If you find out what it is please post here....I can't seem to find anything.

Yeah thats kinda exactly what it smells like some kind of electrical fire or some ****, its kinda sweet smelling almost. It started after i gave it wot in 5th gear while going like 40mph and my rpms where at like 6k. I took the car out and i can smell it less now but i still smell it and i cant really locate it anywhere its the wierdest ******* thing. The car is running fine, no leaks just the smell!!

i had that same problem, i looked under the hood and the coolant hose w/ the valve on top(driverside) was leaking very slowly. I tightened the bracket and its not leaking anymore!! amazing what a tiny leak that drips on the engine can make u think!! well moral of the story check ur coolant hoses for the smallest little leak(doesnt make it to the ground, burns off). Hope this help alittle!! PEACE!!

Have you ever smelled a burning clutch? If not it might be that.

I did that once, some dumbass with a Tercel and a lot of stickers started revving next to me. I was bored, so I decided to punish him but accidently shifted from second into fifth. I still crushed him of course, but my poor car made a foul, acrid, kind of smell that stayed for about a day then it faded.

If I remember correctly, transmission fluid smells funny so you wont mistake it for oil, you (and I) probably just overheated some of it and thats what you're smelling.

Sure it wasnt clutch?
I am starting to learn which speeds and gears go hand in hand with my turbo 2, Sometimes I think 3rd would be good from nuetral at a 45 mph roll, but I bog down and my accel sucks, so I pop it out and throw it in 2nd and I think I can safely say "ROTARIES LIKE IT RUFF"

i always describe coolant burning as barbecue-smelling.

...Which is why I thought I was passing a Gigantic Barbecue Factory (heh) when I blew the upper radiator hose into oblivion at about 110mph, heh.
