Backup light don't turn on. Where to start?

When I put my car in reverse the backup lights do not come on. The bulbs check out OK, so I sure it something else. I'm not sure where to start. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Tony

By the way, this forum ROCKS!!! All the problems I had with my RX-7 was fixed by someone on this forum. This forum it like a bible for RX-7. Just by reading and/or searching, I fixed problems I didn't know I had (eg. wiper switch relay replacement, resolder the cpu, etc....) BIG THANKS!!!!!

There is a relay on the drivers side of the tranny. towards the top - kinda hard to access. But start with the connections that come from the relay - clean them, make sure they are connected well. If not, then the actual relay may be faulty

Would that be in the same area as starter motor. I did notice some wires around that area.

There is no relay in the stock system, only a switch
