B&M short throw

Does B&M still make short throws for 2nd gens? They don't have them listed on the site.

http://www.martelbros.com/cgi-bin/st.../bmracing.html

Is there much difference between the B&M and the Mazdatrix? They only reason I want a B&M is because I can get it at a local shop rather than ordering from the states.

As far as I know, B&M never made one for the 2nd gen, and the 3rd gen shifter wont fit.

Mazdatrix shifter is AWESOME! I highly recommend. Easily the best thing I have done to this car.

I swear I saw a thread about B&M's for FC's.

Ah well, I'll just get a Mazdatrix then.

Thanks.

True the Mazdatrix unit is ridicously sweet. When I buy a second 2nd gen though I'm getting the Mazda Speed unit, I just didn't feel like waiting this time plus I needed some other middle shift boots.

I heard that some of the series 5's come with shorter shifters. I got a 90 GTU and my shifter is pretty short for being stock.

the throw on S5's feels a little shorter but the ***** themselves are a little lower. the short shift is COMPLETELY different than a stock there is NO COMPARISON. the throws feel about half as long as stock i've just been dealing with my TII with stock shifter so far its ok i've missed 3rd a few times but that's normal :p

does the short shifter improve the quickness and smoothness of the shift or just make it rough and quick?

in my opinion, its very "notchy" feeling. you feel almost connected to the tranny. its very smooth to me, and is a definate must on your "mod" list.

hey vosko, have you ever had a mazdaspeed or mazdatrix unit on your fd? id like to get a short shifter, but i dont want to spend the money on the mazdaspeed unit if the b&m unit is just as good if not better. ya know.

The GlassMan should chime in here at some point. We put a B&M short shifter in his FD a couple of weeks ago and he loves it from what i can tell. All i can say the throw with it is very short. I went from 2nd meaning to go to 1st but hit 3rd pulling up my driveway and stalled the car out. Basically me not beeing used to it,other than that i liked it alot. Very short very precise, when your paying attention.

i haven't had the mazdaspeed on my FD i did have a mazdatrix on my TII. the design of the B&M is way nicer than both mazdatrix and mazdaspeed
