auxiliary ports

Should you beable to move the auxiliary ports by hand when the manifold is on the car and it is not running? If I can't turn mine does that mean they are probably stuck? Am I going to have to take the manifold off to free them up or can I break them loose with a pair of pliers? This is for a 90 GTU.

Probably just the actuator them selves. Just two 10mm nuts hold them on. But if you mean you removed the actuators and cannot turn the little arm on the manifold that the actuators actuate, then you'll probably have to remove the manifold to get them to operate. If it turns out that with the actuator in your hand, you cannot depress the actuating rod, then there is the problem. Just get a block of wood and rap the rod against the wood to free up the internals. Should be spring loaded. EDIT: OOPS. On a 90 I think with the actuator in your hand the rod would be spring loaded to the retracted position so I imagine you should be able to pull instead of push the rod. Just the opposite on a 86-88. Anyway the rod should be able to move in and out if its anygood.

You should pull the actuator rod to get tit to move on a series 5. Are you turning the port sleeves the correct direction? The front onewill turn forward, and the rear one back.

Dont force the rods.
they break off.

and cost $50ea. to replace!

You'll have to take it down to the lower intake and clean the engine and ports.

then re assemble and do a flood start thing.

A bottle brush is your freind in this job.
trust me here.

and DONT shove anthing in the middle holes!
Youll break off the injector diffusers.

I reccomend getting new diffusers for both the pri and sec injectors, and having the injectors cleaned while your at it.

The nre injectors will come with new seals.
make sure you dont re-use the old ones.

And get intake gaskets.

Make sure you remove all the old gasket material.
Its VERY hard to do if it doesnt snap right off.
I have to use a "MOUSE" sander and light grade paper to remove stubborn gaskets from some intakes.

Also when you order your gaskets and diffusers (also called air bleeds) get two new rubber seals for the actuator rods.

Also replace all the vacuum hose you can while your in there.

DON'T reuse any hose you remove.
its too brittle and wont seal.

If re-installed, each will have a micro leak and collectivly cause a massive vaccum leak.

Also, dont remove vaccum hoses from BOTH sides of a part.
This way its easy to see where they go back.
