Aux. port actuator operation; different on s4 and s5?

The retaining clip on my front aux. port actuator is missing, so I went to get another one from a junk yard. The one I found was from a 90 and I couldn't get it off, so I took the whole actuator. When I got back home and looked at it, it looks like the actuator works the opposite of how the one on my car does. On mine when you blow into the actuator the piston retracts, but the piston extends on the one from the '90. Is this right? I though the only difference was the source of the air pressure (exhaust vs. air pump).

S5 is push, and s4 is pull.
