Aux E Fan size opinions
I want to install an Aux Electric Fan (like seen stock on some 2nd gen models) that would turn on when I turn the AC on (like some stock RX7 models) or when the temp gets a little hotter than I want it to be. I'm not taking out the stock engine fan/clutch in mine I'm just adding an AUX fan. They're cheap enough that I don't care about the cost and I have a little extra money for something like an E fan so I'm going to get one.
The main question is what size fan do ya think would be best for in front of the radiator? If someone knows the stock E fan size that would be awesome and I could go along those lines. I'm looking at fans as small as 7in up to 12-14in. They push/pull more than 2000 cfm which is more than enough and the RX I'm putting it on has an upgraded alternator so It will have no problem with the initial amp draw and the continuous amp draw.
Oh by the way, the RX its going in was a S4 NA at one time in its life but now has a complete S5 turbo engine swap with a large front mount intercooler (which does block the radiator a little thus why I want an AUX fan).
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated just no flames on why Electric fans are of the devil blah blah blah I've heard them all .

I think its a great idea. I put an auxiliary fan on a Ford Van one time and it really helped the A/C performance at idle. I should have the same effect on your A/C.
You don't want to use a fan with a shroud because the shroud will block airflow when you are at highway speed. I would suggest one of the fans that has just a cage round the blades, Deraille, Hayden and Spal are some brands that are out in the market. Use the largest diameter that will fit. Make sure that the model you choose is either a pusher or is able to be converted to a pusher. Follow the instruction to convert it exactly. Make sure you use a relay. Activate it using the compressor wire.

i run my a/c all the time (blows ice cold) in up to 100+ degree heat and it never runs hot
i think its a waste of money for you (if your running hot you might have other issues)
i run the corksport rad/ shroud with stock fan and all the shrouding

I'd do it . setting in traffic is the first thing that comes to mind. your adding not taking away,at least that's how i see it . a fan like stated above is round like forty bucks considering that a new alum. radiator is a couple hundred . but it wouldnt hurt to do a rad. flush put a new t-stat, some of the wetter stuff. replace houses and stuff and add that fan and still come out cheaper

yeah, I just replaced my radiator as well, the stock one really isn't very good for anything more than moderate use... also, make sure you still have your under tray on. it makes a lot of different when you're on the highway, all the air just goes around your radiator instead of through it.

No sh*t Sherlock!
Well, then your judgment that the fan is a waste of money based on your N/A setup doesn't really apply to a guy working with his FMIC setup, does it? When you get your Turbo setup and your front mount, you will also struggle with cooling and A/C function.
The reality is that you cannot have too much airflow across your condenser. The FMIC compromises that airflow and raises the temperature of that air during and after boosting.
Nice radiator, though.

Thanks for the replies guys. Its not uncommon to see 90+ degree weather here and even though my AC is newly charged and does work it doesn't get AS cold as it would when this car was a NA with nothing blocking anything like... a massive FMIC. A friend of mine has that stock fan on his TII and his is also FMIC'd but his fan turns on when is wants to and definatelly when he turns the AC on and guess what... its damn cold like mine used to be. Looks like his fan is a 10 in in front but i could be wrong.
Oh the car has a Koyo rad in it so it cools the engine and turbo a little better than stock, I replaced the entire cooling system a week ago in it and added a cooler thermo and now the temps hardly ever reach a quarter. I'd have to be boosting up a hill with the AC on to see it come up that high but it normally sits around 1/8ish which is perfect on a turbo rotary in my opinion.
eage8 I would buy your stock fan from you but you'll probably want more than 30 shipped for it which is about the same price I can get a new fan from fleebay Cheap yes, but not continuously used all day long so I don't really mind what brand it is. If it was something I'd be using all day long and needed to always work then I'd get something like a Deraille, Hayden, Spal or the finger chopper. It would be cool however to see a pic of your stock one or know how it bolted up, what it plugged into on the harness etc etc.
