Autozone Slave/Master Cylinder any good?

Well my clutch has ben slipping the past couple of weeks and just to make my life the much better my clutch pedal starting sticking to the floor last night (luckily i was a block from home)and now my car is undriveable and I need to spend most of my money on getting my clutch done so i was wondering if the Clutch Master and Slave cylinder Autozone sales would be a good replacement? They both come with their "limited lifetime" warranty.

the faster the response the better thanks

You mean besides some brake fluid?

Thinking back on previous forum responses, folks seem to have wildly varying results with Autozone, Checkers, etc. reman stuff.
Some of it works, some, not so much.

I replaced mine with Mazda OEM (from Mazdatrix, IIRC), it wasn't that much more and it should be more reliable.

That said, my impression is that NAPA has the highest quality aftermarket hydraulics but that's just an opinion backed with little data.

Autozone worked for me... and they actually had both the master and slave in stock!

I've burned through "duralast" master cylinders in previous vehicles. When it comes time to replace any moving parts on my RX, I will only use OEM, Napa, or Carquest parts. The last thing you want is brake fluid leaking all over the place. And thats what happened every time one of my autozone masters failed... :-/

when i needed a throw out clutch bearing i went to every auto parts store and no one had it checkers, autozone, advance auto parts, and pep boys all needed specially delivery which took about a week and charged about 10$ more then napa. napa had it for me in an hour. and they knew exactly what it was when i walked in with my broken old one. everyone else was like "where does that go and what is it?" i heart napa! lol

While I understand the convenience of having a place close, have you considered Rockauto? Good parts and prices if you look closely. Also of note, the limited lifetime warranty on parts does nothing for the labour you spend putting the part on yourself. I'd rather have a quality piece that has a low chance of failure so I don't have to do the job again so soon after I replaced it in the first place.

+1 for Rock Auto. I first heard of them on a Chevy S10 Forums for getting parts to replace the 4.3L's Fuel Distribution system. Everyone over there swears by them too. And yes, a lifetime warranty doesn't mean **** when dealing with the owner's labor to replace the part.

I personally have an autozone master and slave cylinder on my FC. There's been a very minute bit of fluid seepage over the last year or so, but no catastrophic failure as of yet. Maybe mine's the exception to the rule though. But if in doubt, Napa or Mazda parts would be the best choice.

When I replaced my hydraulics this spring, I compared Mazdatrix and getting the parts from Malloy Mazda (who usually have great prices on OEM). Mazdatrix was a lot cheaper. When I looked into it, Mazdatrix was no longer selling the "Mazda OEM" master and slave. I believe the Mazda parts were originally made by Tokico and the Mazdatrix master/slave are made by PBR. Here's the old thread on this subject:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=clutch

Not that I have any reason to doubt the quality of what Mazdatrix was selling, it just wasn't really "Mazda OEM" if you are a stickler about such things.

Tokico hydraulic parts are good stuff... Here in the D.C. area, we have a chain called "Olympic Imported Auto Parts" ( http://www.forparts.com ) that sells good stuff... But it's a bit expensive.

************* always have what I need though...

If CarQuest doesn't have the right part or right manufacturer of part that I need, I go for Olympus.

Thanks for all the feedback.I just had my friend tow the car to his shop this morning to change em out for me since he had some other things he needed to do the car also.In the future though ill just head to napa for any parts needed local, sometimes shipping means waiting on a part for too long, just noticed autozone was about half the price but i guess you get what you pay for in the long run.I'll just have to deal with my slipping clutch for another week or two

Dude to spare you any needless hardship, dont EVER buy clutch hydraulics from Autozone!! YOU WILL REGRET IT! Both my master and slave cylinders seals ruptured on me and i lost my ability to shift in hard traffic 6 months after i installed them! DO NOT SKIP ON Genuine OEM parts! Spend the little extra money it costs !

I was having some Clutch problems(fuild on my driver side carpet) so I replaced with Autozone master and slave at the same time, along with a new rubber hose.

The fitting's where so bad on the Autozone parts that air was leaking into the system, foaming up the fuild while trying to bleed. Had to use teflon tape to seal it proper untell Mazda OEM parts could be used.

Also, I have noticed that the basic parts store remans are a massive fail for the most part. However I have had amazing luck with NAPA on many cars in the past.

most of the time its cheapest to use the dealer OEM parts if you plan on keeping the car for a while, less money replacing the same faulty parts. Best of luck.
