Automatic shifting to soon.
How do I get my trans to shift out further. It shifts so quickly that it doesn't get many rpm's and therfore not much power. also the kickdown does not work.
You are probably having trouble with the kickdown solenoid and/or the vaccum modulator. Both of which are located on the left(drivers) side of the transmission. Both of these simply screw onto the trannsmission and are easily removed. The early shifting sounds like the vaccum modulator going bad and not down shifting sounds like the kickdown solenoid although a bad vaccum modulator can cause that also, If you replace the vaccum modulator be careful not to lose the small rod. If falls out very easily. Also, when you remove either of these parts you will lose at least a quart of fluid so have something to catch it in or you will have a mess. You may be able to find these parts at a local junk yard. If not, I have a new vaccum modulator from Victoria British.(I bought it and the whole transmission went out two weeks later) and I also have an extra kickdown solenoid. If you are interested in either part just let me know.
