Talking Automatic Seatbelts Pain in the ***

I have a 89 GTU and it's it great shape ... i love her and she's running strong but the only thing that bugs me is whenever I open my door I have to hope that the seatbelt will react and move forward for me . I was just wondering if anyone knew a way to make sure it worked every time. Thanks I'd Appreciate the info.

There is a factory recall on this problem. I actually still have the original paperwork I got from Mazda in '94 or so. Otherwise...fit pre-autobelt seatbelts from a Mazda wrecker.

I have a question about the recall. Does it cover them even if they are not acting up at the time they are looking at it. I have had mine lock up a couple times but thats it.

Next time it locks up, take it to the dealer.

The conversion back to manual belts requires most of the interior trim from an S4.

Canadian S5's!

I'm debating whether to buy a parts car just to have proper S5 manual belts.

Next time it locks, take it to the dealer. They HAVE TO FIX IT FOR FREE. It is for the lifetime of the vehicle. You can check the FAQs and fine the recall letter. If any dealer gives you a problem, call Mazda USA corporation direct.

uh huh

Uh huh.... So there is nothing that I can give a little tweek??? I've already had it sent back to the dealer and had the recall taken cared of. I was just wondering if there is some trick of the trade or something practical I could do myself.

Um, no it doesn't.
In fact, most of the relevant S4 trim won't even fit a S5.
