Unhappy Automatic to Manual Conversion?

I have an 89 vert ...automatic...i really dont like it being automatic, and i was wondering how i would go about converting it to a manual transmission and how much the parts would cost..maybe an estimate and if a regular auto shop would be able to do it?

It's much funner to do it yourself, and yes, it is possible. What it's going to cost is going to depend on how good of deals you get on everything. Check this page out: http://hypntyz.rx7life.com/5spconversion.htm

I did mine over a year ago now for $850 parts labor everything my mechanic did it and I have not been more happy with the car. After I got mine swapped made me wonder why they even made auto rx7s. The tranny soaks up so much power.

Double check with someone that's done the swap. I think the mounting locations for the tranny crossmember on the car body are different for a manual / auto. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You need a crossmember adaptor. I believe Hypntyz can make you one. Just email him.

Well, LaDeDa

Ya, I wish I was a forum meber at the time I did this.. it sure would have helped alot. I went to a bone yard and pulled parts and wimmed it. It worked out though .. the hardest part was the wiring .. and I only had help one day of the 2, also don't forget you have to fabricate some tranny mounts. Or in this case get them from Kevin.
