Unhappy Automatic to Manual Conversion?

I have an 89 vert ...automatic...i really dont like it being automatic, and i was wondering how i would go about converting it to a manual transmission and how much the parts would cost..maybe an estimate and if a regular auto shop would be able to do it?

I did mine over a year ago now for $850 parts labor everything my mechanic did it and I have not been more happy with the car. After I got mine swapped made me wonder why they even made auto rx7s. The tranny soaks up so much power.

maybe i will buy ya tranny? wat year is it off of? i need to fit 89 non turbo...hmm oh yeah i was gonna ask when converting from auto to standard can i get the driveshaft and starter off of an 86-89 (i have 89) or do i need one from 88-89..

Double check with someone that's done the swap. I think the mounting locations for the tranny crossmember on the car body are different for a manual / auto. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ya, I wish I was a forum meber at the time I did this.. it sure would have helped alot. I went to a bone yard and pulled parts and wimmed it. It worked out though .. the hardest part was the wiring .. and I only had help one day of the 2, also don't forget you have to fabricate some tranny mounts. Or in this case get them from Kevin.

The Tranny came off a 87 n/a
I got a brand new unused clutch for it, not even installed
i got the starter for it
the driveshaft for it
and the diffy if ya want it

Please buy it, i need to get rid of it
