Automatic counterweight key taper!?

Automatic counterweight key taper!?
The key tapers to the opposite side, I don't understand this... the key in the end of the eccentric shaft tapers away from the engine, yet, on the counterweight it tapers into the engine side... do I need to take the key out and turn it around!? wtf?
