From what I have seen the first generation RX7's are better at autocross mainly because of weight. I've seen a couple highly modified FC's do pretty good, but theres not many in this state.

Haven't we ALL heard this
Hum, NA FC...I have no idea what class they are in....
C Stock?
Dude, really...just get the car driving and relable and take the money you would put into upgrades....and put that money into seat time and drivers education.

E Stock is just basic mods-catback, shocks, DOT racetires on stock sized rims K&N stock mount air filter, 4-5 point harness
C Street Prepared is more prepared-full exhaust, full intake, AC and PS removal, any suspension beyond stock mounting points, can change to race seats, any size DOT racetire with any sized rim,
F Prepared-think racecar
If your car does not have an LSD you can race in the new Street Touring 2 class. That is between ES and CSP with any street tire over 140 treadwear.
Just go to an autocross and talk to people you will learn a lot and have fun. Try not to go past ES right of the bat unless your car is already past that point.
Make sure your battery is secure and go race.

A viscous LSD is legal for STS2, just not the clutch-type.....RX-7's are specifically allowed, and I think the 2gen would be great if you can get it light enough and put enough tire underneath it (max 225 width and 7.5" width rim allowed in class). I ran my GSL-SE at the Fontana ProSolo and did okay against the Miatas, and the car was stock! '06 we will hit the National schedule pretty hard with the new '89 GTUs.
